THE HISTORY OF RAWHIDE FIRE HOSE

• Rawhide Fire Hose Corp. was founded by W. W. (Budd) Maddock in 1976. Prior to opening, Rawhide Mr. Maddock was a sales representative for National Fire Hose. He was inspired by an area coupling manufacturer to buy hose and couplings, ultimately offering complete hose assemblies. The Rawhide name was derived from original fire hose which was made from leather. Leather is tough, yet flexible.
  
  
• The New Year (2002) introduced Rawhide Fire Hose, LLC. It’s the same experienced staff, abundant stock and quick order turnaround that you depend on, with a fresh new look. In addition rawhidefirehose.com was launched. Rawhide Fire Hose is committed to continuously improve in order to be the greatest value to our customers. Rawhide Fire Hose has never experienced a liability claim due to a failed hose.
  
  
• Originally the fire departments used bucket brigades, which were several men in a line, passing buckets full of water towards the fire.....the last man threw the water on the fire. These buckets were often made of leather and were used to water horses. Much of the original fire hose was made from leather. Hence the name Rawhide.....tough as leather, flexible and durable.
